LEGISLATION regarding the rental of properties will soon go to Parliament.

Minister of Housing and Lands Elizabeth Thompson told colleagues in the House of Assembly yesterday that it would not only deal with rent control and rent restrictions, but would ensure that all buildings, whether owned or being rented, were

of a high standard.

She made her comments during debate on the Architects Registration (Amendment) Bill in the House of Assembly yesterday.

She said this measure was necessary, especially with the clear changes in weather patterns, noting that this was the longest hurricane season being experienced.

"All of these were reasons which justify Government's assistance even at an added cost, to ensure a quality of building stock that is high and resistant," she said. (CM)
